Surrounded, this beautyCaptures my glance;Small flowers, garden pathsEnfold me, entranced. Passion on the hilltops; Passion in the sky. Azure-gold-grey-satin-white Cavorting patchworks leap and vie. Crows wind in wide circles Cawing the dying of the day At the cliffside and in the valley Violet-yellow-green mixes with red-black-grey.

Day 9 of 40: Wandering

Day 9 of 40: Wandering

Cast out amidst the fields,
As sun approaches zenith.
I wander to wander:
Nowhere to go or to be
Except pounding this cracked earth
With eager footsteps.

Without guide or map,
Mounting each new brow
Promises unforeseen treasures,
Unfolding secrets of the land.

“Come forth,”
She beckons.
“Come run with me.
See my garments
Green and flowing.
Put aside all other days
And rejoice in me,
Simple is the knowing.”

Day 6 of 40: Cut grass

Day 6 of 40: Cut grass

In midsummer
We laughed and played
Building rooms with walls
Of dried, cut grass.

That summer lasted
But a few weeks, a few days, a few hours
Yet in a radiant chamber of my heart
It shines out for evermore.

Mother’s love Like warm sunshine Upon my face Like a gentle breeze Caressing my skin Like the earth beneath my feet Solid, dependable, steady Like flowing water Bringing life wherever it goes.

Tarmac drive Leading to uneventful building Trees frame left and right Long road stretching either side Holding mummy’s hand Or someone else’s perhaps? Banal, boring, bland And yet so vivid So memorable A snapshot in an early mind A lone sparkle Glimmering in the dark […]

Day 3 of 40: Crawling/Walking

Gravity’s pull
Belly to earth
hands reach for sky
motional dialogue
fumbling feet push up
and tumble down

until one day…
stand up proud
walking tall
walking far
walking free
