Day 11 of 40: Beauty’s kiss

Surrounded, this beautyCaptures my glance;Small flowers, garden pathsEnfold me, entranced. Wealthy beyond the ken of men:To the East, great hills; To the South, the sea;To the West, deep river; To the North, tall trees. Giddy with joy,I twirl and I twist;Falling deeply in loveWith beauty’s sweet kiss.

Day 10 of 40: Enthralled

Day 10 of 40: Enthralled

Passion on the hilltops;
Passion in the sky.
Azure-gold-grey-satin-white
Cavorting patchworks leap and vie.

Crows wind in wide circles
Cawing the dying of the day
At the cliffside and in the valley
Violet-yellow-green mixes with red-black-grey.

Cast out amidst the fields,As sun approaches zenith.I wander to wander:Nowhere to go or to beExcept pounding this cracked earthWith eager footsteps. Furry patchesBlack and whiteTugging and tearingGreen strands rentFrom baked earth. The congregationStand, sidle, and saunter;Others lie mute,Passively chewing. Distant, placid gazes;Gentle, timid souls.A herd resting in midday sun,Undisturbed, simple, serene.

Day 7 of 40: Glow

Day 7 of 40: Glow

A clap echoing
Into boundless space
So vast
That no sound disturbs.

All ravings and rantings
Of my feverish mind
Halt with abundant, flowing
Silence.

Confronted with peace
All gradually sinks to rest
An inner wealth glows
As a million treasures delicately whisper my name.

A tiny hoverfly fans its wings
A breeze breathes this world alive.
Words hold no weight in such fullness;
In silent mystery I am held, I surrender, and I rest.

Day 4 of 40: Snapshot

Day 4 of 40: Snapshot

Tarmac drive
Leading to uneventful building
Trees frame left and right
Long road stretching either side
Holding mummy’s hand
Or someone else’s perhaps?

Banal, boring, bland
And yet so vivid
So memorable
A snapshot in an early mind
A lone sparkle
Glimmering in the dark

The beginning
Of a piecing together
Of this person called me
Of a weaving of images
Of faces and heartaches
Of meanings and messages

The beginning
Of one who remembers, who imagines,
Who is haunted and who hopes
Of one who loses and finds himself
Down the corridors of time.
