Passion

Do you hear the pigeons cooing,
The sigh of the Great Big Earth?
Change is rising up from within the vastness.
The petty world of men has had its day.

Grief swells through me like an ocean tide,
Its salty brine most welcome.
My heart yearns to open
And to touch the sacred Earth.

The dawn chorus greets the rising sun:
A reminder of the more-than-human;
A reminder to slow down and to listen;
A reminder of the forgotten pace of things.

Tears well up like gentle rain:
With these tears I fertilise the Earth;
With these tears I reignite our communion, our passion;
With these tears I clear away the sorrow and the confusion.
